Autumn Wardobe Essentials

Hello you lovely lot! It's officially the best time of year - the time for layering, rust shades, oversized knits and cosy coats. Autumn is by far my favourite season, and despite the mornings getting darker, I can't help but feel a sense of delight at the chill in the air and the leafs on the ground. It feels like I've been waiting years to pack away my summer clothes and dig out the jumpers, but the time has now come, so I thought I'd show you my top 3 rotational autumn pieces in my wardrobe, and what I wear them with.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will recognise this coat from one of my posts from spring. The trench coat is the perfect transitional coat for spring or autumn when it's not quite warm enough for no jacket, or not quite cold enough for busting out the 'big coat'. This details on this coat are lovely; it has tortoiseshell buttons and a tie waist with a matching tortoiseshell buckle. It's the perfect length for me as I often struggle with long coats making me look tiny as I'm only 5"5, but this is a perfect length. The great thing about this coat is that goes with everything, but my favourite way to style it is with a plain white t-shirt , black tapered trousers and white trainers or loafers.

If you liked the trouser and trench coat combo in the first photo then you're in luck, because those trousers are also part of my capsule wardrobe for autumn. Now these brown houndstooth trousers are one of the comfiest pairs of trousers I own. They have a high waist with a wide leg which creates a lovely silhouette, particularly when paired with a simple turtleneck and my favourite pair of loafers. They're from the Urban Renewal range at Topshop (now sold out).

This skirt may very well be the most worn item in my wardrobe at the moment. It has a fine polka dot pattern with frilled hem detailing and is my favourite thing when paired with a chunky knit jumper and trainers. I wear this all year round and it's definitely part of my capsule wardrobe, pairing it with t-shirts in the summer and jumpers in winter.
